{Do It Yourself} Laundry Detergent

This laundry detergent recipe is all over the interwebs. Really, you can find it anywhere. I decided to try it out and really couldn't be more pleased.

you will need-
1 cup borax
1 cup washing soda
1 bar Dr. Bronner's {Baby Mild} Soap
tight sealed container (to hold detergent)
cheese grater
mixing bowl (optional - you can mix in container)
measuring cup
food processor (optional)

how to-
Shred the bar soap with a cheese grater. Mix the shredded bar soap, 1 cup of borax, and 1 cup of washing soda together in mixing bowl or in the sealed container you will be keeping the laundry detergent in. {Optional: Put mixture through food processor to make powder finer.} Use 1 tablespoon of laundry detergent mixture per load of laundry. Enjoy. :-)

side notes-
  • If you have an HE washer, I'd recommend using the food processor to make the mixture a finer powder.
  • You can also use either Ivory or Fels-Naptha bar soap instead of Dr. Bronner's bar soap.
  • Sam and I used 2 bars of Dr. Bronner's Baby Mild soap and 1 bar of Dr. Bronner's Tea Tree Scented bar soap. Our detergent smells amazing!
& Special thanks to my main squeeze for using his awesomely strong muscles to shred the soap bar super fast for me. :-)
